Workplace Discrimination & Assault

Workplace discrimination is when an employer or someone else at work treats a worker differently or mistreats a worker because of certain personal traits. Examples of these traits are birth place, gender, color, or language. Workers may not realize that the way they are being treated is not only wrong, but also illegal. We inform workers about discrimination in the workplace, and support them as they pursue justice.

If you think that someone is discriminating against you at work because of your skin color, gender, nationality, language ability, disability, or some other trait, please call us. We’d be happy to talk with you about your concerns. All our services are free and confidential.

More Information

Immigrants are important members of our community, and immigrant workers are an important part of our workforce. According to a report by the American Immigrant Council, about 1 in 14 of Pennsylvania’s residents are immigrants. In 2018, 9% of Pennsylvania’s workforce were immigrants.

Workers have a right to a workplace free of discrimination, abuse, and sexual harassment. Workers also have the right to a safe work environment. In Pennsylvania, workers are protected against workplace discrimination based on their gender, race, national origin, sexual orientation (depending on where you live), and age, among other grounds.

Justice at Work is committed to working on behalf those who have faced discrimination and sexual misconduct at work. We work with our clients to ensure safer workplaces and provide legal representation. We also use culturally informed practices to provide a safe and empowering environment for our clients.
